Follow these steps to install Omeka

1. Log-in Georgetown Domains

To get started you’ll need to login to your control panel by going to the Georgetown Domains homepage and logging in with your Georgetown NetID and password.

2. Find Omeka on the Dashboard

Once logged in you’ll be at the homepage of your control panel. In the Web Applications section, you will see Installatron Application Installer. Here is where you can browse applications and install Omeka. Click Installatron Application Installer and follow the steps.

3. Install Omeka

Click “Install this application” to install Omeka.

On the next page Installatron will ask for some information about this install. The first thing you’ll want to do is decide where to install it. If you want to install Omeka on your main domain, you can leave the directory area empty. If you created a subdomain, you can select it from the dropdown menu. You also have the option of installing Omeka in a subfolder by typing in the folder name in the Directory field.

By default the installer will automatically backup your website and update it anytime a new version comes out. While we recommend you keep this option, it is possible to only do minor updates, or turn them off completely (you can choose Let me manage the these settings and change the default settings). Click Install to continue.

The installer will take just a few moments to install Omeka and a progress bar will keep you updated. When it is complete you will see a link to your new Omeka site as well as a link to the backend administrative section for your Omeka site. Click My cms to configure your new Omeka installation.

After clicking My cms, you will need to set your “Administrator Username” and “Administrator Password”. Please give a username and a password that you will remember. Then click “Save all” at the bottom of this page.

Now you can click the second link to go to your admin board.

You will be asked to log in to Omeka. Please log in with the Administrator username and password you just set. Then, click “Log in.”

Now you have your dashboard, and can start using your Omeka.
